The Chemical Technology program was opened in 2018 at Iğdır University Technical Sciences Vocational School. This program currently has no active students. The Chemical Technology program aims to provide students with both the basic principles of chemistry and the ability to operate and control advanced technology-based special equipment. In this respect, the duty of a chemical technician is to have both extensive knowledge of the basic principles of chemistry and the ability to operate and control advanced technology-based special equipment. To train intermediate staff who are knowledgeable in the field of chemical technology, can transform their knowledge and experience into practical applications, are open to social and technological innovations, are enterprising, productive, respectful of people and the environment, and have professional and ethical responsibilities.

Chemistry is a field related to every aspect of life. The Chemical Technology program was established to meet the qualified intermediate staff needs of the Chemical Industry, where intensive investments are made in our country. The field of Chemical Technology is closely related to sectors such as health and food, as well as all sectors where industrial production is carried out. There are units related to Chemical Technology in all areas such as refinery, petrochemical, rubber, cement, paint, detergent, cosmetics, textile and pharmaceutical. Chemical Technology has a large place in the ceramic, glass, automotive, metal, mining, energy and agricultural sectors. In almost all industrial enterprises, production and quality control departments are related to Chemical Technology.

In the field of Chemical Technology, the human element is as important as the technological infrastructure. In this field, qualified professionals who will act as a bridge between chemical engineers and chemists and workers and who have acquired the necessary professional competencies in line with scientific and technological developments are also needed. Therefore, people who will work as intermediate staff are needed as well as university graduates. Technicians, engineers and production managers working in the field of Chemical Technology work in cooperation.

Double Major Program: Allows students to earn a bachelor's degree in a field they are interested in, in addition to their primary field. In this program, students can complete courses in two different fields and earn a diploma in both fields.

Minor Program: Allows students to take a certain number of courses in a field they are interested in, outside of their major. Students who complete the minor program are given an official certificate in that field; however, this does not mean a second undergraduate degree.

Graduates of the Chemical Technology Program are employed as Chemical Technicians in both public institutions and the private sector. They can work as laboratory technicians or technicians in laboratories and fields of chemical industries and other industrial branches (such as paint, detergent, cosmetics, paper, refinery and petrochemical, plastic, glass and food), in private analysis laboratories and in mining, refinery petrochemical, forensic medicine, mechanical chemistry, food, environment, water and wastewater laboratories of public institutions.
